October Update: Back again!
Hi everyone! If you don’t follow me on my socials or Patreon you’ll have missed the month of chaos I’ve had. Just after saying I was trying to get through this rough patch I jinxed myself because my 9 year old computer died. HARD. It took both internal drives with it and the only way I’ll get that data back again is if I send it to a Data lab.
Thankfully, I am extra paranoid about backing up my comic data specifically incase anything like this were ever to happen in the extreme and this time it paid off as I’ve only lost a month of Engelbaum work. Which is better than the entirely of my comic vaporizing itself into the ether. Obviously this was quite stressful for me as I presumed I’d lost 99% of my entire non comic data including all the art I’ve ever made, music files etc. I spent a week crying about it and going back and forth to repair shops.
Then the incredibly kind and generous people of the internet decided to help me out and raise funds to help me replace my dead PC so I could carry on with my work. They somehow managed this in 5 hours. I am in awe. Together we built a custom PC that can do everything way better than my (VERY) old (Windows7) PC. And now I am living in _*THE FUTURE*_
Look at this thing.

Beautiful.
Then a crazy miracle happened and it turned out I’d made a random back up of some of my old important files in a very obscure folder in one of my external backups from this year. So All in all I’ve maybe only lost about 20% of my stuff. That I can remember anyway. I may have lost a lot of old phone photographs and some legal documents but I wont know I’ve lost them until I attempt to find them 4 months from now. I have thousands of files from decades worth of being online, both my own and belonging to other people. So it’s hard for me to remember what I had sitting there. I am very strict with my monthly backups but my backups decided to die with my PC so it caught me a couple of days before I make my manual backups to external drives. It always happens that way *lol* my luck.
Eitherway I’ve spent all of this past week moving things across to my new PC and reinstalling all my programs I lost. I think I’m nearly done with it now. Thankfully my comic art program (Clip Studio EX) runs like a dream on the new rig and everything seems a lot faster and reliable. The only thing I really have to start from scratch on is my OBS Studio layouts and settings I had spent ages making for my Youtube art streams. It’s daunting to have to do that all over again but I’m not going to cry about it, this could have been much worse.
Engelbaum is safe and I can work on it again now. So it’s good to be back!
Thank you SO MUCH. SO. MUCH. To the wonderful people who chipped in and helped me buy the new PC. I am beyond grateful. You saved my ass. I will work as hard as I can to make it worth it 🙂
I uploaded a new Imagni ref that I was working on when my PC died. It unfortunately ate the clothed version of her that I was halfway through finishing. But at least the base ref still exists so I can just draw ontop of it. You can find it in the ART> Refs section.
It’s coming up to the end of the month and I am racing here to get some work completed to make up for lost time. But if you’d like to buy me a coffee to give me a boost you can do so at my Ko-Fi page here 🙂
Onwards to more Engelbaum!!!
